The Poem
If I could I would capture all the stars for you, bundle them up and let you choose the one you love best
If I could I would remove all obstacles and troublesomeness so that your childhood grin never fades
If I could I would protect you from harm, hardship and hurt.
If I could I would ensure the world was always fair, beautiful, warm and safe.
But I am your mum and despite my mighty mother-powers I can only do so much.
And in reality I’m glad I can’t do all of these things
Because I hope I have filled you with the strength to make it through hard times, resilience to never give up and love to see just how beautiful this world is because you are a part of it.
So remember the stars are there for you, I can’t give them to you but I will hold you up to them with all of my might so that you can capture one and make it your own
